THE ARTS

The arts, which include music education, art classes, and dance, sustain a child’s creativity, academic performance, social skills, reading comprehension, language comprehension, memory, and more. These are essential life skills that are highly beneficial to young scholars.

Music education, in particular, benefits the brain’s memory center, as learning music requires the ability to read music, remember lyrics, and use hand-eye coordination. On average, students who learn music are known to outperform students who do not in visual, memory, problem-solving, and listening tests.

More importantly, when children are exposed to music education, they learn effective study habits, as learning music takes determination, serious effort, consistent practice, and patience. These habits benefit other areas of study when in harmony with other subjects and areas of study, preparing our students for bright futures.

Likewise, art class activities, such as painting and drawing, help children develop their ability to problem solve, take on risks, think outside the box, and improve their communication skills. Improved brain development, mastery, self-esteem, and creativity are all amazing benefits of art classes.

Dance classes have benefits similar to music and art classes but also allow children to explore and control their body’s movement, improve balance and coordination, increase flexibility, and can be a fun way to stay physically fit.
